Forgotten Tales – All The Sinners

I have listened a lot to Forgotten Tales lately, and from the first time I heard this band I was impressed over their  work. The band play a mix of Melodic Power Metal, Symphonic Metal, Progressive Metal with influences from Baroque and Fantasy Metal. The whole band are very high skilled musicians, who have different musical training from Conservatoiries in Quebec in Canada. The musical director and composer in Forgotten Tales is guitarplayer Martin Desharnais. He has long experience from the music scene in Quebec and has also studied classical music and jazz. The first track, The Hideaway, is an instrumental classical track made as an intro to the next killer song, Lady Of The Forest. This song is a fast Power Metal song, but at the same time very melodic and with different parts. The refrain is great and I also noticed some very good instrumental parts in the song.

The front-lady and singer, Sonia Pineault, is really an amazing vocalist, with a wide range in her voice she leads the songs up to very high levels and of female singers in the Power Metal genre I think she stands forward as one of the best today. The title-track, All The Sinners, continues this great adventure of high class Power Metal. By adding a bit of baroque and classical influences into this song it gets an own sound and style. Wind Oh Wind is the ballad on the album and here we get a taste of how good Sonia`s voice is, beside that the song has a beautiful refrain and an great instrumental part who can give almost everyone goosebumbs all over. The Message is a fast instrumental song and here we hear what the individual members in the band are capable to create with their making hands. The almost nine minute long Three Wishes and the first song I ever heard of the band, Fairytales, are two of my favorite songs on the album.

My Soul is a more Melodic Metal oriented song and not so fast, but with heavier guitars, great played keyboards and very nice singing. All in all I like the whole album very good, and for fans of Power Metal and related who hasn`t heard this great band yet, you need to do it immediately!
